I believe counseling is a collaborative process working to improve your overall life satisfaction. I will work with you to understand your goals, clarify concerns, and create solutions with you that will help create the life you want to lead. My therapeutic approach is based in Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). SFT is a strengths-based approach. It is used to help empower the client to advocate for themselves, while learning their triggers and gaining coping skills. SFT’s goals can include to increase confidence, develop hope, provide psychoeducation, and increase self-advocacy. CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts (cognitions), how we feel (emotions), and how we act (behaviors) are all interconnected. Psychological distress occurs when people have negative and unrealistic thoughts and, in turn, this can lead to negative behaviors. CBT aims to help people identify these negative and unrealistic thoughts and behaviors so they can begin to develop alternative and realistic thoughts and behaviors to reduce psychological distress.
It is my role to listen without judgment, ask questions, explore your experiences and relationships, provide feedback, and help you achieve your identified goals. We may collaborate on activities for you to work on outside of therapy to help you achieve your goals. Some of these tools include experiential exercises, goal setting, homework assignments, and including family members in the therapeutic process. I am committed to providing you with a safe and caring environment in which we can address your concerns. Studies have shown that successful therapeutic outcomes are related to the quality of the therapeutic relationship between a client and the therapist. ​

It is a priority of mine that you feel understood, connected, and engaged in the therapeutic process with it being an effective and productive experience for you. I am passionate about empowering others with applicable tools to live more meaningful lives. I enjoy helping individuals, couples and families discover personal strengths and foster resiliency. I operate from a strength-based perspective with an emphasis on client agency and wholeness. Bottom line: You are the expert on your life.
